SOLIDWORKS Hide component in Display State

If you have multiple SOLIDWORKS Display States you might have a situation where a component needs to be hidden or shown in only a select few states. Instead of activating each Display State one by one and hiding the component, you can use the Edit menu to hide the component in specified states SOLIDWORKS will display any components hidden in the assembly. If you click on the component, it will show it when you exit this state (which can be done by clicking Escape on your keyboard or clicking Exit Show-Hidden). You can also window-select components if there's a group you want to select Hiding and Showing Components Using the Tab Key In the graphics area, you can press Tab, Shift + Tab, and Ctrl + Shift + Tab to hide and show components of an assembly. You can use these commands regardless of the component's state (resolved, lightweight, SpeedPak, or Quick view). The commands are not available when another command is active Right-click a display state and click Properties. Access content from the previous SOLIDWORKS Forum Imagine you have an assembly with several display states. Each display state has various components hidden. What is visible in each display state represents a different variation of the product. When creating a drawing view, representing a certain display state, the user would like to get a BOM containing only the visible components

Hide and Show Components in Multiple SOLIDWORKS Display State

  1. Use display states to show components differently within a model. The components are the same from one display state to another. Only the way the components are displayed changes. For example, you might create display states to: Hide some components while you work on others. Display several related components in the same color

How to show and hide components in your SOLIDWORKS drawing views without affecting the assembly or multibody part in which they exist. For more information. This doesn't always help us track it parametrically, though. In cases where our BOMs are being generated by a PDM system, like SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional, it can be helpful to have an actual component in the assembly, even if that component has no geometry. Let's use this vise assembly as an example

I didn't try the hide/unhide trick, but rather I would right click on the part in the tree and use the component display option to change the display type to solid with edge (or whatever) and then the part would show up. I would try your way, but SolidWorks has decided that it is fine now Hide objects in all display states. Open in Forum. All you need is a SOLIDWORKS ID, or new or existing 3DEXPERIENCE ID. The setting that makes model edges visible behind transparent components (right-hand view) or hidden (left-hand view) is found in the display state of the assembly. Comparing display states SOLIDWORKS Display states are used to showcase a part/component differently within one model/assembly. In Display States we can modify the display of a part/assembly by changing; the Transparency, Appearance, Display Mode, and Hiding bodies/components Display States in Your SOLIDWORKS Drawings This topic comes up from time to time on tech support where a customer would like to show a drawing view with some components shaded and some in hidden lines. 1. 2. In the Drawing View Property Manager, select the display state. 3. Set the Display Style to either Shaded with Edges or Shaded. Following these simple steps will make for a much more meaningful drawing view that calls attention to the component(s) the user is trying to identify. I hope you found this SOLIDWORKS tutorial helpful
  2. Making Changes to a Display State. Once the new display state has been created any changes to the appearance of the model will be captured in the active display state. These changes can be things such as hiding a component, changing its display state, creating a section view or even modifying the color of a part. Display States in Drawing

It toggles the display in the graphics window to temporarily show all components that are currently set to a Hide status. You can toggle the components back to a Show status by simply left clicking on each component you wish to show once you exit the command Another use of Display States within SolidWorks is the transparency color scheme.
